Hi Boris,
I've been using DMXcreator for 4 years on a laptop with XP and 1 GIG RAM. My timeline froze after programming about 7 minutes. It won't let me furher. I then did a new timeline and after 37 minutes I could not delete a "goto" command. I have the 2 timelines, but don't know how to attach them for your view.
What can the possible problem be.

Boris,

Sorry, I forgot about this one .
When zooming the timeline out, after a certyain abount of zooming, the lighting channels doesn't zoom out - only the audio channel does.

Hi Jurie

1. To delete a "Goto" move the cursor "hand" onto the command flag, press the left mouse button, then press delete and release the mouse button.

Is there any special media file in your show that could cause freeze problems? Does it freeze alway when you play it? Always at the same time?

2. You are right, this zooming problem seems to be a bug. I will check this.

Boris

The problem is that on that "goto" the hand does not appear. I know how to delete it, but it seems that on that specific point it would not allow me to.

I'm using wave files.

Yes the problem occured everytime at the specific point.

How can I send you the timeline so that you can see what it is doing?

Hallo Boris,

Hello Tino,

Live-Video Button - it's for "default" video capture device, for example for USB Video Camera. It shows a video from camera on the currently active Media Screen in pauses between video files or in "stop" state.

Can you tell, what's the configuration of the computer you have.
CPU speed, RAM, laptop or desktop, video (shared/card). Operating system.

Question: do you connect your beamer, when DMXCreator is running?
Does your computer have autodetection of the connected second monitor?

Anyway, in what I'm 100% sure, software will crash, when you change your video configuration - change resolution, connect/disconnect a second monitor or beamer. It doesn't support hotplug. So, if you change your video configuration, you have to restart DMXCreator (doesn't matter, if timeline is opened or not).

All media files are played by dmxcrtmedia.exe for safety, based on DirectShow technology. If media file is accepted by DirectShow subsystem, it must be played. Main software and dmxcrtmedia are nearly independent. So, if this player is dead, it must not crash the main DMX software. I'm testing the last 2 hours on my Pentium-4, 2GHz, 512 MB RAM, Nvidia GeForce4(64MB) 1680x1050 + SVideo 800x600, under XP SP2, with crazy mix of different wav, mp3, avi, wmv, mid, bmp, jpg, gif files on 2 media tracks, with 2 monitors switched rundomly in runtime. Sometimes I see some delays when media files opening. Nothing special.

Maximum time for playing a static picture is 10 sec.
Something is going wrong. Would be good to know, what can it be.

Best Regards. waw.

Hello WAW,

The following data have my notebook computer,

Asus X51RL, Duo T2330 @ 1,6 GHz 2 GB Ram
Windows XP SP3
Grafk: ATI RADEON XPRESS 1100

The resolution and the number of monitor or projector will not be changed during operation of DMX Creator.
These are fixed before I start DMX Creator.
It does not matter what resolution I use with my system, the problem remains the same.

Or should I maybe the 2nd Not to monitor (beamer) to manage Windows? (I can try again).

yes my computer have auto detection of the connected second monitor.

with the images is clear, 10 seconds would be ok, but they have to break off after 2 sec.

Hello Tino,

It looks like you have a very good computer configurarion.
And I think, you will tell me, that Windows Media Player
is playing all media files without any problems.

I also don't want to say something bad about Intel processors.
The only thing I found - multycore processors are working
not so good with multithreding graphics.

So, easier to say - try to disable "Write Combining" (reboot required)
in Advanced Graphic Properties -> TroubleShoot. Sometimes you
loose your graphic performance, but you get more stability.
I've tested it with some "Duo" Intel processors, and I'm sure,
it's effective, I also have some problems with Direct3D, DirectX and
DirectShow applications, especially with multithreading apps.

DMXCreator with different options has about 4-8 threads and some
of them are working with the graphic resources. So, problem may
lay in this area.

Did you try to play your pictures with disconnected USB-DMX controller?
Did you use Visual Emulator at the same time, you play your
video/pictures?
Try to minimize graphic resources on the screen - open only Main
Creator window and Timeline window, and minimize them at play time,
are there some dipendencies?

Other idea - as I know, "gif" file may have a virus inside, look on
your antivirus software, maybe it check your "gifs" whole the time.

Please, send pair of your gif, bmp files (which initiate a crash) to Boris,
we will try them on our computers.

Best Regards. waw.

Hello WAW,

I have now solved my problem. Very Happy

Unfortunately, but not the way I would have liked, because I have a laptop
completely reinstalled.

Now only DMX Creator and Windows on the laptop and everything works perfectly.

Is just a pity that we will not know this so that the error was triggered.

Love greetings and Merry Christmas

The Tino
